The spectacular sight of mountain goats defying gravity on a vertical dam wall in Italy is all because they have a craving for some of Earth’s elements essential to life.
The fact that the cameraman can do this without hooves and no need to lick the salt himself is incredible. As someone with a fear of heights, I am doubly impressed by the Ibex kid, who actually followed its mother all the way up.
This is the most insane thing I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve seen Ibex on some crazy slopes in my life, but I had no idea they could casually scale an enormous vertical wall, balancing on a millimetre or two of uneven rock surface. This is absolutely insane! Also, how do they even find out that there’s salt up there? I have so many questions.
Luckily, these goats are not carnivores; they just want some salt. Imagine being chased by a carnivorous goat that can climb a vertical dam. This is insane! How they can climb that wall and not fall, then run back down is incredible! Animals are truly amazing!
