Mads Nordsveen, a nature photographer from Norway, recently acquired images that appear to have been plucked from a wonderful Christmas story. He was out hiking in the Oslo area when he came upon an extremely uncommon white newborn deer.
“I was walking in the highlands seeking for wonderful views for my vacation photography when this adorable animal appeared out of nowhere,” claimed the 24-year-old man.
Despite the fact that the snowy background almost completely obscured the cute deer, the photographer said it did not try to hide and even “posed” for some photographs. Take a look at a few examples.
“He came quite near to me, and we gazed at each other right in the eyes,” Nordsveen recalled, “and after a few minutes, the mother of the white deer came out of the trees immediately behind us.” It took a few minutes to walk around before returning to its mother. It was truly wonderful and like something out of a fairy tale.”
White reindeer have a rare genetic abnormality that permits them to blend in with their pristine white environment by removing colour from their fur. They are distinguished from albinos by the presence of black pigment in their antlers and eyes.
This isn’t the first time this wildlife photographer has had the opportunity to interact with wild animals. He also photographed Lynx and wolves he encountered in Northern Norway.
