10 Animals With The Biggest Horns In The World

The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle descended from animals who thrived in Southern Iberia’s arid regions. These cattle have been bred to have a high tolerance for drought and stress. The Texas Longhorn was later crossed (while in America) with “indicine” cattle that were descended from the domestication of aurochs in India, 85% and 15% respectively by proportion, genetic analyses show. The Iberian taurine lineage that gave rise to the Texas Longhorn was descended from the domestication of the wild aurochs in the Middle East, with some admixture of the European aurochs. Barrenda, Retinto, and Grande Pieto were three of the breeds represented in the herd. English cattle are not crossed.
