This is a clever moment when a trapped elephant is able to climb onto a specially constructed rope ladder and escape from a canal.
When the elephant, estimated to be 25 years old, falls into a canal in Welikanda, an area in eastern Sri Lanka near Polonnaruwa, wildlife officials decide to intervene with a helicopter.
The elephant is shown in footage wading through the canal’s waters before spotting the Department of Wildlife Conservation’s specially designed rope ladder.
The elephant makes an attempt to climb the bank of the canal’s treacherous slope. He makes many attempts to raise his rear legs out of the water, but it is unsuccessful, and he retreats back into the canal.
The elephant is then moved along the canal by rescuers using firecrackers to a specially constructed ladder built for him.A ladder made of ropes, tyres, and tires is eventually reached by the elephant, who then starts to raise his body out of the water.
After a six-hour eсe endeavor, the eрe elephant makes a futile attempt to ft his body out of the water and take od of the rope. He makes several efforts before succeeding in ascending the ladder and returning to dry land.
