Birds mother feeding their hungry babies..part 1

One of the birds shown is an Australian Noisy Minor. I would be interested to know if anybody out there has any idea how long these birds live in captivity. (These are not birds you would keep as a pet.) Going back 23 years, I did rescue work with Fauna Rescue in South Australia.

I came home one day and someone had dropped off a noisy little chick that had fallen out of its nest. It was really still more egg than bird; it had only just hatched. At that time, I did not know that these birds are not releasable because they are highly territorial and aggressive. So I kept him.

23 years later, I still have him, and he shows no sign of slowing down. Our lives are controlled by this bird; everything we do, we have to plan around him. All our holidays have to be at “pet-friendly” venues. No one has ever been able to give us the faintest idea of how long he would be expected to live. So I’m hoping someone out there may be able to shed some light on this. I would emphasize to people that they do not make pets like parrots, etc. It’s just that we took it on, and now we are obligated to see it through.
