Massive Crocodile Rescued After Getting Stuck In Flooded Canal

A giant crocodile that got stuck in a canal while searching for food has been rescued and relocated thanks to the help of wildlife officials and villagers in Sri Lanka, where it was found.

The Wildlife Department arrived to save the 17-foot-long crocodile, which weighed nearly a ton, in Weeraduwa, Matara, after villagers reported that it had become stuck in the flooded canal leading off the Nilawala River. The large reptile was hoisted out and onto the back of a truck, which could barely contain the enormous animal. The crocodile was tied up to avoid him escaping from the back of the truck while they transported him to an area of the river where he could be released.

A small excavator was also used to direct the crocodile out of the truck and over to the river’s edge. He was released without injury. An environmentalist at the scene said that the crocodile is the maximum size that these types of crocodiles grow to.
