The attack began when a female lion and her cubs suddenly rushed at the hippo, which was grazing in a clearing near a river. The female lion lunged at the hippo, biting its head and neck while her cubs jumped on its back. The hippo responded by rearing up and trumpeting in alarm. The attack continued for several minutes before the female lion and her cubs backed away, leaving the hippo bewildered and bloodied. The hippo then retreated into the river, but the lions followed in pursuit. The hippo eventually escaped, but the lions continued to stalk the area.
The drama didn’t end there. In a separate incident, a hippo was seen charging a Land Rover in the same park. The Hippo was startled by the vehicle, and charged straight at it in a rage. The tour guide and passengers were terrified, but managed to stay in the vehicle as the hippo roared and thrust its head against the side of the car.
The hippo eventually backed away, and the tour guide and passengers were able to drive away unscathed.
