Nothing beats the bond you share with your animal, especially if you helped raise them.
Kevin Richardson is one of those people who devote their entire lives to saving animals out of pure love.
He witnessed a mother lion rejecting two of her newborn cubs one day while working at the Lion Park in South Africa, Some people might have been afraid to approach the couple, but Kevin’s instincts told him otherwise.
Rather than allowing them to be taken and caged, he placed the cubs in a wildlife park where they could thrive.
The goal at the center was to raise these cubs in such a way that they could grow into fully functioning adults without the need for human intervention.
Kevin decided to pay a visit to the couple, named Meg and Ammy, seven years later, and he was understandably nervous about their reaction.
They hadn’t seen each other in a long time, and he wasn’t sure if they’d remember him, Kevin approached the lions without hesitation, and thankfully for us, he captured the encounter on video with a GoPro, One of the lions decided to jump in the water and approach her while calling her name.
“When I call Meg and she comes swimming, I see in her face, ‘Are you going to catch me if I come to you?’”
“She looks at me, and I look back, and we both know. That is the essence of trust.”
What happened next was truly incredible; as soon as she realized who Kevin was, she jumped into the water and hugged him.
Kevin refers to them as his “soul mates,” and no matter how long they are apart, they will always have this special bond, He went on to explain how the cubs came to trust him so much after spending time with him:
“It was exhilarating to see the lions doing what lions do for me, It opened my eyes to the fact that there was another way to work with these predators in captivity, Meg, Amy, and I have a history that dates back to when they were born.”
Kevin believed that Meg and Amy were “destined for a bullet” by trophy hunters and that “if I hadn’t had m and a back, they would have ended up in some shape or form in the canned lion hunting market.”
Kevin, also known as the “lion whisper,” founded the “Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary,” a 3,000-lion sanctuary in the African savanna. He cares for 26 lions of various ages, including Meg and Amy, whom he has known since they were cubs, Thank you for like and share.
