A large bright orange bird with a black bib and a pair of eye-catching brilliant blue spectacles.
The orange-backed troupial (Icterus croconotus) belongs to the Icteridae family of birds. Apart from a black face, wings, bib, and tail, this is a vivid orange. The secondary wing feathers have a tiny white spot. A blazing orange line runs down their shoulder, and a little blue ring of exposed skin surrounds their eyes.
Their song is made up of a series of loud, musical bursts, each of which is usually two syllables long.
The female and male of this tropical bird are nearly identical, which is unusual among tropical birds.
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, and Peru are home to the Orange-backed Troupial.
At altitudes of up to 750 meters, these birds like to reside on forest borders as well as in open forested areas.
