room! When our Aldabra tortoises (Aldabrachelys gigantea) notice that food is ready, they move the fastest.
The Aldabra atoll, part of the Seychelles islands off the northern coast of Madagascar, is home to these enormous tortoises. Males can reach lengths of nearly 4 feet. Females are significantly smaller than males.
Tank, who is closest to the camera, is 550 pounds and 56 years old this year. Orville, the tortoise next to him, moves quite well for a 114-year-old tortoise! Samson, 31, is already nibbling on greens near the food pile.
That’s really rather good pace considering the weight of the enormous shell they carry on their backs!
They’re really interesting. They have the appearance of an elderly uncle from whom you seek life counsel, but they also have the appearance of babies. I’m grateful that they haven’t gone extinct, Thank you for like and share.
