Small hummingbirds known as white-necked jacobins live in Central and South America. The bird species, which has a body length of 11–13 cm and a wingspan of 18–20 cm, has distinctive green upperparts and white underparts. Female birds have a rounder tail and a less noticeable red patch on their throats than males do. Male birds also have a characteristic forked tail.
