Octopus Snatches Crab on Dry Land.

Despite the fact that octopi are marine animals, this one takes a chance by leaping out of the water in search of a crab resting on the beach.

More than 300 species of eight-armed mollusks make up this order, resulting in a remarkable diversity of highly intelligent cephalopods that live beneath the sea. While most octopi are bottom feeders that eat crustaceans, polychaete worms, scallops, and clams, they will occasionally seek for unwary prey in shallow tidal zones.

They are less graceful on land, but no less effective, as illustrated in the video below. At the edge of a tidepool in Yallingup, Western Australia, an octopus ambushes an unwary crab.
